 Re: ChampCar Statement on COVID-19

To all ChampCar Members, Sponsors, and Fans,

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation develops nationally and across local markets where we compete, we want you to know that the safety and health of participants, sponsors, staff, and spectators are always a top priority. Now more than ever, safety is our primary concern.

As we move forward, we will have communication with local health agencies and event venues and diligently monitor the Coronavirus situation. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to follow the CDC recommendations to limit the spread of the virus:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water
  • Use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay at home if you’re sick

However, we will be monitoring the directives of local, state, and federal authorities for direction. All ChampCar events will take place in open-air spaces, including driver and staff meetings. Awards ceremonies and tech inspection will also take place in an open-air environment.

It is important for everyone to take health precautions seriously, but not to panic or change their daily activity. For the sake of everyone involved, we ask that if you are exhibiting any signs of illness, please stay home. As we continue to monitor developments and navigate through these unique circumstances, we want you to know that you can rely on us always to put your health and safety first.
