February 17, 2021 Racing Incident 2021-1   Race Event: Road Atlanta 14-Hour Race Director: Dana Morrison In the 2021 Road Atlanta race opening laps, multiple reports from track officials regarding driving behavior resulted in ChampCar’s decision to temporarily stop the race. The day after the race, ChampCar learned that the same driver committed several of the reported incidents. These incidents included contact, passing under yellow, and excessive speed near the safety vehicles.   Simply stated, we saw the video. After reviewing the video footage and speaking with both the drivers and team captains of the cars involved in the contact, ChampCar is taking the following actions.   1.      ChampCar has asked the driver to sit-out the team’s next race. 2.      ChampCar has “invited” the driver to work a race, specifically at the Black Flag station communicating with other drivers.   Dana Morrison Race Director CEO / President ChampCar Endurance Series
